How I build career confidence pivoting into different industries

Did you know I shifted industries in my career a number of times?

I went from wholesale rice snacks to international recruitment, from regenerative medicine to marketing & events (which was my first own business). Then went back to working for an employer selling software development education before jumping into not for profit in mental health. And then added in my life coaching business in the last few years.

Some moves felt incredibly steep and often had me wondering: am I qualified enough to do this? Other times I wondered if all my previous experience was for nothing if I went into something else. Sometimes a voice told me I had to push through hard and keep trying because that was expected of me even if I was deeply unhappy. It made me feel overwhelmed, anxious and eventually let to burn out twice in my early career.

But the desire for more purposeful work was so strong. And deep down I knew. I deserved to be in a career that deeply fulfilled me. I deserved to shine.

Paired with the know how to quantify my skills and experiences into transferable ones, and using key foundations to feel confident in exploring new possibilities and find a way in, I made it happen.

And I know you can too.
