What it's like to accept myself unconditionally
Unconditional acceptance and compassion.
.
.
I'll be the first to confess that I used to think that unconditional acceptance was weak. How could I be strong, powerful and ambitious if I accepted myself unconditionally without holding myself to a high (as perfect as could be) standard?
.
That compassion discounted the suffering that I thought was so necessary to be successful, in that "no pain no gain" old fashion.
.
Whilst I truly believe from my own experience and in coaching clients that being in that raum of discomfort is your playground for growth and leadership, there is so much nuance we can easily sweep aside if we only look to through the black and white and frankly outdated lens of what and how we "should" be.
Unconditional self acceptance and compassion does not equal complacency or recklessness or lack of self respecting principles and boundaries. It's the opposite.
To accept yourself without conditions. To embrace yourself wholeheartedly with flaws and all.
That is holding yourself to a higher standard with longevity.
.
To have compassion for yourself and others in moments of big and small stuff ups, when it's easiest to name, blame or shame. That is leadership and building a sustainable foundation for growth.
You can accept yourself unconditionally AND continue to expand and grow your leadership, vision and impact.
