WHERE IT ALL STARTED

Growing up in the Netherlands, I was the first of my Chinese Malaysian family to be born overseas, giving me access to privilege and opportunities unknown to my family before.

‘Bound’ to the path of success that would make my family proud, I studied to become an ‘international business woman’.

After completing a Bachelor of Business Administration, studying and working in China, Valencia, UK and Germany, I set my heart to internationally pursue a Masters of Commerce in marketing and business.

I loved the idea of going somewhere where I'd never been before, whilst expanding my knowledge and discovering the world.

Little did I know the Universe would set me up with a wave of curiosity which saw me depart from my birth country for a new and vibrant city.

I fell in love with the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, Sydney, Australia, which I am now honoured to call home.

The husband came later as a big bonus and now with our beautiful daughter, I’m beyond proud, humbled and often still so amazed to live the life I have and do the work I do.

I started my career in marketing, events and corporate fundraising.

Ten years of working with government, small medium enterprises, University and the not-for-profit sector was anything but linear.

From having my own marketing business helping small business owners with their marketing and events strategy, to that international business woman dream job, to pivoting and seeking more meaningful and purposeful work in the charity sector.

Despite some great experiences, money, status and incredible connections..

Something didn’t feel right…

Even with a great life and all those ‘dream job’ boxes ticked, it was evident that I was unfulfilled. 

I was working to be successful but things did not add up to what I thought they’d be like.

When I was nearing burn out (again) - things became crystal clear.

I awakened to the fact I was subscribed to a hustle culture that was deeply incongruent with my soul.

I had only known how to hit KPIs at the cost of my own health and relationships.

I had bought into the idea that to succeed I had to sacrifice and do whatever it took..

..that more time working equaled more success..

..that I had to outwork the competition..

..rest was unnecessary..

..and success had to feel like hard work - otherwise it wasn’t.

Deep down I knew somehow it didn’t have to be like this.

I knew there had to be a better way.

I knew there was more meant for me.

I began to deeply crave a life with more purpose, ease and flow and finding a way to bring my gifts, strengths, skills and experiences forward where I could be fully me and make the contribution I dreamed of without having to sacrifice my wellbeing and joy.

I very quickly realised I wasn’t alone.

At the very start of my coaching career, I saw so many loved ones and clients being pulled into this same paradigm of hustle. This truly enraged me and also broke my heart.

And it still does.

I began to go on a path of discovery about the value of self leadership and purposeful work, which allowed me to truly see how my own actions and behaviour impacted my life and others. 

I became a leadership development and transformational program facilitator and started mentoring and coaching young professionals and emerging leaders to help them uncover what was holding them back and how they most desired to make a difference.

It was in these programs that my coaching flame really awakened.

And so it was when I first came across the Beautiful You Life Coaching Course I instantly felt seen and heard.

In my heart I knew that I wanted to become a certified coach, and so I did in 2019. It was one of the best decisions of my life. 

Everything has shifted since.

Becoming a life coach changed the trajectory of my life.

It became the catalyst for a higher purpose and bigger-than-me calling that I could never have dreamed of prior to understanding what a life coach truly does. 

It is now a vehicle for my unique gifts, talents, strengths, skills and soul expression that gives me so much joy and fulfilment. It is my life’s work and legacy.

I’m also proud and honoured to have been a Support Trainer with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited Beautiful You Coaching Academy, where I got to support people to achieve their dream of becoming a qualified heart-centred life coach - what a full circle life moment!

With the hustle and grind myth well and truly busted, I have consciously devoted myself to unravelling this paradigm and deepening my coaching skills to support my clients.

I'm learning that cultivating a life and business we love can be easeful, heart-led, joyful, meaningful and powerful. And it can and must be done our way for it to be sustainable and with integrity. With each opportunity to coach the most incredible clients, I’ve been lit up from an infinite well of joy. AND I’ve personally witnessed for myself and with clients how incredibly effective and transformational coaching is.
